||||
| About Us! | ||||
| The Us is mostly me, Jeff Hawkins, with help from my family, friends and our many contributers! My family provides artistic help, encouragement and much inspiration! The friends help by sending info, asking questions and correcting my mistakes! | ||||
| I work as a Electronics Field Engineer and also in the Monster Truck Racing Industry as a track official, crew member with the Virginia Giant Monster Truck and Webmaster for some of the biggest names in the industry! | ||||
| My first exposure to electronic media was with a Computer Bulletin Board System. Now, enough about me! Let me tell you about Monster Highway itself! | ||||
| Monster Highway The BBS! | ||||
| Monster Highway was a local BBS here in Middletown, Virginia. The BBS was run on a PC-XT and a pair of old AT class personal computers. The BBS ran software called Waffle and was just ready to go on line when I got involved with the Internet instead! | ||||
|
||||
| Monster Highway became The Information Monster Highway when I needed a Organization Name for the Usenet FAQs I maintain! | ||||
| The FAQ Lists | ||||
| A USENET FAQ list is a list of questions about a given subject usually put together by someone with interest in the subject! The Monster Truck FAQ came about when I wanted to produce a second USENET Periodic Posting for a planned Book Project! | ||||
| By the way, My first
FAQ can be found here
and was about the DOS mode software called Net-Tamer I
and many others use on the Internet! Of course I also run a
Windows based system now! |
||||
| The book never happened! (But maybe someday!) | ||||
| The Monster Truck FAQ Became a Web Site (Yes, This Web Site) in late 1997 when the information started to overload the limited presentation ability of the textual format of a USENET Posting! | ||||
| Monster Highway (The Website) |
||||
| The Internet FAQ Consortium publishes The Monster Truck FAQ each month in HTML! In the spring of 1998 I captured a copy of the FAQ (formatted in automatically generated HTML) from FAQS.ORG. And began changing it from a text document in HTML to a Web Page with images and a more eye-pleasing colorful layout! | ||||
Many people contributed ideas and critical comment on Monster Highway as it moved onto it's own Web Site hosted by Infonent at WWW.Webjump.Com. Monster Highway is now considered by many to be the most extensive collection of Monster Truck Information On Line in the world! |
